Vegetarian Christmas gifts: Ideas, Treats and What to Check

Christmas 2026 key dates (UK)

  • Black Friday: Friday 27 November
  • Advent Sunday: 29 November
  • Christmas Day: Friday 25 December
  • Boxing Day: Saturday 26 December (bank holiday Monday 28 December)
  • Last posting dates: Royal Mail usually recommends mid December for second class and a few days later for first class. Check Royal Mail for this year's exact dates.

Most food is vegetarian already, but a few Christmas favourites hide animal ingredients like gelatine in sweets and animal rennet in cheese. Non-food gifts like a candle, a print or LEGO Botanicals are safe for every diet, so mix one in with any treat.

Pair any food gift with a card and a note saying you checked the label: it shows you thought about it.

Always read the label: recipes change, and 'may contain' warnings matter for allergies and coeliac disease.

What is a good example of vegetarian Christmas gifts?

"Vegetarian cheese board (check the rennet)" is one of 17 examples on this page. Pick the one closest to the tone you want, then add a specific detail of your own - a shared memory, a date, a name - so it reads as yours rather than copied.
