Black Friday Nintendo Switch: Consoles, Games And Gift Ideas

Nintendo Switch consoles, games and accessories are big Black Friday gifts, especially for families. Bundles that include a game can be the best value. Here's what to look for.

Some of the things we suggest here are sold by other shops, not by us. Where we link to them, we say so.

Which console?

Finding the perfect console depends entirely on how and where your family plans to play. This guide is ideal for parents buying their first household system or upgrading an older device for Christmas. As a practical tip, always check the physical dimensions and screen type before buying, as some versions are designed solely for portable play while others connect to your television.

• Check which Switch models are on sale and whether games carry over.
• Handheld-only models suit travel; standard models plug into the TV.
• A bundle with a game often saves money.

Family games to look for

These multiplayer options are perfect for keeping children and adults entertained together during the festive holidays. They are ideal for cosy winter afternoons when everyone wants to join in the fun. Our top tip is to check the age ratings and player limits on the packaging first, ensuring the titles you choose are suitable for your youngest players and match the number of controllers you own.

• Party and racing games everyone can play.
• Building and adventure games for kids.
• Sports and fitness games.

Accessories

Great add-ons are brilliant for eager gamers who want to get the very best performance out of their new system. These items are particularly useful for busy households or when travelling on long family journeys. We recommend buying these essential extras early in the sales, as they make fantastic stocking fillers and help protect your expensive technology from accidental drops and scratches right from day one.

• An extra pair of controllers for multiplayer.
• A memory card for downloads.
• A carry case and screen protector.

Gift cards

Digital vouchers are a wonderful choice for teenagers or relatives who are notoriously difficult to buy for. They are ideal for last-minute presents or when you are unsure which titles they already own. As a helpful tip, make sure you purchase the voucher in the correct currency for the recipient's region, as digital store credits are usually locked to specific countries.

• An eShop gift card lets them choose their own games.

Key things to remember

• Check the age rating on games.
• Set up parental controls before Christmas Day.
• Charge it before wrapping.
