Black Friday Gift Guide

Black Friday countdown

Shop Christmas cards now

We design and print our own cards and prints in the UK and post them ourselves, so this guide is written from the inside. Where something isn't worth buying in a sale, it says so.

The best way to use Black Friday is to buy the presents you were always going to buy, at the point in the year when they cost least. That means starting with the list of people rather than the list of offers.

Below is the guide by recipient and by budget, plus the sale traps that turn a saving into an overspend.

Gifts by recipient

  • Mum - a candle she'd never buy herself, with a card that actually sounds like you.
  • Dad - a print for the shed, the office or the downstairs loo, where it will get quoted at people.
  • Best friend - a rude card and a pin badge, which costs less than a round and lasts longer.
  • Teacher - a candle and a thank you card, bought now while there's still choice.
  • Secret santa - a badge or small print under a fiver that isn't a novelty mug.
  • Kids - pin badges for the stocking, and a card they can keep.
  • Someone far away - flat gifts that go through a letterbox with no redelivery card.

Gifts by budget

  • Under £5 - a pin badge, a card, or a postcard print. Shop this card
  • Under £10 - a card plus a badge, or an A5 print.
  • Under £20 - a candle and a card, or an A4 print.
  • Under £30 - a candle, a print and cards for the rest of the list in one order.

What to skip in the sale

  • Bundles that make you take four designs to get the two you want.
  • Personalised gifts discounted to roughly the price of an unpersonalised one plus a pen.
  • Anything you're buying because it's reduced rather than because someone wants it.
  • Spending £12 more to clear a free delivery threshold worth £3.95.

Delivery, honestly

  • First class usually arrives the next working day, and we post on working days, normally the same day you order.
  • Second class is meant to take two working days but can take up to five, so leave room for it in December.
  • Working days run Monday to Saturday, and there's no tracking on standard letter post.
  • Cards, prints, badges and candles all ship together, so one order is one delivery.

Prints that post flat

A5, A4 and A3 art prints, drawn in house and printed in the UK.

Pin badges, stocking sized

Enamel pin badges that post as a large letter and fill a stocking.

How to write it so it lands

  • Write the list of people first, then shop against it.
  • Flat, light gifts save you money twice: on the item and on the postage.
  • Buy cards for the whole year while you're there.

Frequently asked questions

When is Black Friday 2026?

Friday 27 November 2026. It is always the fourth Friday in November, and most UK sales now run from the Monday of that week to Cyber Monday.

What are the best Black Friday gifts to buy?

The ones already on your list: Christmas cards, small gifts for teachers and secret santa, and anything flat that posts cheaply. Those hold their value after the sale; impulse buys don't.

Is Black Friday too early to buy Christmas presents?

No - it is about four weeks before Christmas, which is the most comfortable point of the year to buy, write and post without rushing.

What is a good example of black Friday gift guide: what to actually buy?

"Mum - a candle she'd never buy herself, with a card that actually sounds like you." is one of 19 examples on this page. Pick the one closest to the tone you want, then add a specific detail of your own - a shared memory, a date, a name - so it reads as yours rather than copied.
