• Send the message now, properly written, then post the card the same day.
• "Your present is late because I wanted to get it right" is only true once. Use it wisely.

Already missed it

• Belated card, no long excuse, one line of apology and then straight into the warm bit.
• Name a date you will see them. That is the actual gift.
