Weddings: Cards, Gifts and Guides
Weddings: cards, gifts and what to write
Weddings come with three questions: what to buy, how much to give, and what on earth to write. This page answers all three, and links to every wedding guide we publish.
Our wedding cards are drawn in house and printed in the UK, blank inside so several people can sign one card without crossing out a printed verse. Prints work well as the keepsake gift when the couple already have a house full of things.

Money and gift etiquette
- If there's a gift list, use it - it exists so the couple don't get three toasters.
- Cash is normal now. Put it in a card rather than handing it over at the venue.
- Guests giving money typically cover roughly what their seat costs, but nobody checks.
- Coming as a couple? One card, one gift, both names.
Afterwards
- Thank you cards go out within a month of the day while the names are still fresh.
- Keep the seating plan photos - they make the thank you list easier.
- First anniversary is paper, which is a gift to anyone who sells cards and prints.

Frequently asked questions
What do you write in a wedding card?
Congratulate them both by name, add one line about the day or the couple, and finish warmly. Leave room if others are signing the same card.
How much money should you give at a wedding?
There's no rule. Many UK guests give somewhere around the cost of their own seat, but give what's comfortable - the couple invited you, not your bank balance.
Are your wedding cards blank inside?
Yes, all of them. That matters at a wedding, where one card often carries messages from four or five people.
Do you sell wedding stationery or invitations?
No. We make cards, prints and small gifts, not invitation suites or table stationery, so we won't pretend otherwise.
When should you send a wedding thank you card?
Within a month of the wedding is the usual guide. Sooner is better while you can still match gifts to names.
