Diwali, the festival of lights, is marked over five days across autumn by Hindu, Sikh, Jain and some Buddhist communities. 'Happy Diwali' or 'Shubh Deepavali' both work as a greeting.
The theme in almost every message is the same: light over darkness, a fresh start, prosperity for the year ahead.

- Diwali dates move each year with the lunar calendar, usually falling between mid-October and mid-November.
