Eid card messages

'Eid Mubarak' means blessed Eid, and it works on its own. Everything else in a card is warmth added on top.

Below are messages grouped by who you're writing to, with separate wording for Eid al-Fitr at the end of Ramadan and Eid al-Adha later in the year.

A note on our range: we don't currently print a dedicated Eid card, so this is a wording guide. If you're posting a handwritten card or a blank one, the messages below are ready to copy.

How to write it so it lands

  • Eid dates move each year with the lunar calendar, so post a few days before the expected date.
  • 'Eid Mubarak' is safe for anyone; only use religious phrasing you're sure about.
  • If a colleague has been fasting, a short acknowledgement of the month means a lot.

What do you write in an Eid card?

'Eid Mubarak' is the standard greeting and is enough on its own. Add a line about health, family or the year that's passed, then sign your name.

What is the difference between Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha?

Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan and the month of fasting. Eid al-Adha falls later in the Islamic calendar and marks the end of Hajj. Both are greeted with 'Eid Mubarak'.

Is it appropriate to send an Eid card if you're not Muslim?

Yes. Sending Eid greetings to Muslim friends, neighbours and colleagues is welcomed. Keep it simple and warm - 'Eid Mubarak, wishing you and your family a happy day' is perfect.
