Running a music round
- No speaker? Read the lyric and ask for the artist. It works just as well and nobody has to fight the Bluetooth.
- With a speaker: ten seconds of each intro, played twice at the end of the round for anyone who missed it.
- Mix eras within a round if the room is mixed-age, so nobody gets a blank ten.
- Two points for artist and title, one for either. It stops arguments.
- A 'name the year' bonus on each track adds a whole extra layer without extra prep.
- Print the answer sheet with numbered lines only. Teams write titles, not essays.
How to write it so it lands
- No speaker needed - read the lyric instead.
- Two points for artist and title, one for either.
- Replay every clip at the end of the round.

Frequently asked questions
How do you run a music round without playing songs?
Read out a lyric and ask for the artist, or describe the song and ask for the title. It works as well as an intros round and needs no equipment.
How long should an intro clip be?
Ten seconds. Play the whole round through once, then replay every clip back to back at the end for anyone who missed one.
How many points per music question?
Two for artist and title together, one for either on its own. It rewards the people who actually know it without shutting anyone out.
Do you sell quiz packs?
No - we make greeting cards, prints and pin badges. Everything on this page is free to use.
