Hen Party Bag Ideas That Don't Get Left Behind

We make cards, pin badges, prints and party bits in the UK. We don't sell inflatable anything, so this is a plain guide with our own bits only where they genuinely fit.

Hen party bags go wrong the same way every time: eight tiny novelties that get left in the hotel room.

The fix is three or four things people will genuinely reach for before midnight.

The four things worth including

  • Painkillers and water tablets, sealed and obvious.
  • Plasters and blister patches - the single most used item in any hen bag.
  • Mints or gum, and a hair tie.
  • The weekend's running order printed small, so nobody has to ask again.

Nice extras if there's budget

  • A good chocolate bar rather than a handful of sweets.
  • A pin badge with each guest's name instead of a sash.
  • A face mask for the morning in, if there is one.
  • A printed game sheet and a pen that works.

Under £5 a bag

  • Paper bag, name written on by hand, four useful things inside. That's it.
  • Buy painkillers, plasters and mints in multipacks rather than as gift sets.
  • Skip the bag entirely and hand out a badge and a card - cheaper and better received.
  • Print your own game sheets rather than buying a hen kit.

What to leave out

  • Anything inflatable, anything with a straw shaped like anything.
  • Miniature toiletries nobody uses and everyone leaves behind.
  • Novelty items that embarrass the bride in front of her mum or her boss.
  • Confetti, glitter and anything the venue will charge for.

How to write it so it lands

  • Plasters get used more than anything else.
  • Four useful things, not ten novelties.
  • Write the name on by hand.

Frequently asked questions

What do you put in a hen party bag?

Painkillers, plasters, mints and the running order, plus one nice extra like a chocolate bar or a named pin badge. Four useful things beats ten novelties.

Are hen party bags necessary?

No. A card and a game sheet is plenty. Bags are a nice touch, not an expectation.

How much should a hen party bag cost?

Around £5 a head is normal, and a good bag can be done for less by buying the basics in multipacks.
