Stag Do Ideas in the UK

We make cards, pin badges, prints and party bits in the UK. We don't sell inflatable anything, so this is a plain guide with our own bits only where they genuinely fit.

The best stag dos are planned around two things: what the groom actually enjoys, and what the least wealthy person in the group can afford.

Get those right and the destination barely matters.

Cities that work

  • Edinburgh: walkable, good food, whisky, and enough to do in daylight.
  • Manchester and Leeds: cheap, excellent pubs, easy to reach by train from most of the country.
  • Newcastle and Liverpool: still the best value for a big group night out.
  • Bristol, Bath or York if you want a weekend with a lower gear and better sleep.

Daytime activities

  • Go karting, clay pigeon shooting, axe throwing - short, competitive, easy to book for twelve.
  • Golf, football or a five-a-side tournament if the group actually plays.
  • Brewery or distillery tours, which pace the drinking rather than accelerating it.
  • Coasteering, surfing or paddleboarding for an outdoors group, with a pub afterwards.

Cheap and low-key options

  • A cottage or bunkhouse with a big kitchen, split twelve ways, beats hotel rooms every time.
  • One night away rather than two, which halves the cost and most of the arguing.
  • A day out plus a curry and a night at someone's house.
  • Camping with a decent pub within walking distance - very cheap, weirdly memorable.

Planning rules

  • Set a total budget before you pick a destination and publish it in the group chat.
  • Collect money in advance. Chasing people for £40 after the event ruins friendships.
  • Ask the groom for his three red lines and respect all three.
  • Book one thing per day, not four. Overbooked stag dos are just logistics with a hangover.

How to write it so it lands

  • Budget first, destination second.
  • Collect the money up front.
  • One booked activity per day.
