- Introduce people with a reason: 'you both do X' works, 'this is Dave' doesn't.
- Run a team game early with mixed teams. Ten minutes of that saves the whole evening.
- One shared playlist built from both people's requests.
- A photo board with both of their lives on it gives strangers something to talk about.
- Avoid in-jokes in speeches. Half the room won't get them.

- A quiz night with rounds written about each of them, played in mixed teams.
