Christening Card Messages
Christening card messages
Messages here are grouped by tone rather than by relationship, so if you know you want something warm, short or slightly funny you can go straight to it.
If you'd rather sort by who you are - godparent, grandparent, guest - our what to write in a christening card guide does it that way round.
Every card we make is blank inside, so there's space for as much as you want to say.

- Welcomed today, loved always.

Religious messages

Non-religious and naming day

- Welcome, officially, to the best people you'll ever meet.
- No hymns required. Just love, and a lot of it.

- You've got a village. Today they all showed up at once.
Funny

Frequently asked questions
What is a good christening message?
A good one names the day, says something specific about the child or family, and adds a wish or blessing. Two or three sentences is plenty - the point is that it sounds like you.
Can you send a christening card if you can't attend?
Yes, and it's appreciated. Post it to arrive in the few days before the christening, and say plainly that you're sorry to miss it and thinking of them on the day.
Do you give money in a christening card?
It's common, particularly from grandparents and godparents. Many people put it towards a savings account instead, and say so in the card.
What's the difference between a christening and a naming ceremony card?
Only the wording. A naming ceremony is non-religious, so leave out blessings and references to God and focus on welcome, promises and the people around the child.
